Self Catering Holidays in Spain

Self catering has for some time now been a popular holiday option, particularly for families with small children and/or a limited budget. This really all started back in the 1960's with the advent of tour operators offering package holidays, I'm sure many of you reading this will relate to this phenomenon.

Things have moved on a bit since then and although many families still use the package holiday self catering option we are, as a nation, becoming more adventurous and looking for other holiday options by renting self catering villas, apartments and houses.

With the introduction of low cost budget airlines such as EasyJet, Ryanair, BMIbaby etc. many more of us have stopped using the tour operator and are arranging our own holiday itinerary using the internet.

Flights, ferries, trains, bus/coach, accommodation, vehicle hire etc. are all readably available enabling the booking of flights, accommodation etc. a relatively simple process.

More of us are now arranging our own self catering holidays in Spain and with the cost of living being cheaper than the UK you get great value for money. This does not mean you have to be tied to the kitchen as the price of eating out is very reasonable. You may of course wish to prepare and cook your own food, in which case you will find you can purchase everything you require from shops and supermarkets or one of the many open air markets.

Our holiday home is fully equipped to cater for your needs with a full size oven, 4 ring hob, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, microwave, kettle, coffee percolator, washing machine, iron, ironing board, cloths horse and terrestrial TV. There is also a teapot for those of you who prefer their tea made in the traditional way with tea leaves rather than tea bags.

The dining area has seating for six around the table with all the usual pans, pots, dishes cutlery/crockery that you would expect for six persons.

Patio/terrace furniture with parasol and seating for six are also provided so you may enjoy the shade during the day and the warm evenings at night. A child's table and two chairs are also supplied so that the little ones do not feel left out.

For families with younger children stair gates are supplied for your use free of charge. A Graco Contour cot is also available on request.
